From my earliest memories, I remember comparing with other girls. I know I wasn’t the only one who did this. The thoughts just ran so quickly through my mind, and from my first glimpse, I thought I had her figured out. I knew her life had to better than mine, but I was oh so wrong! It has taken me years to stop comparing myself to others.

Keep An Open Mind

That first glance tells you very little about her. You don’t know her weaknesses or struggles you just see her outside persona. Take the time to ask questions, and try to form that friendship. Then you can get to know the real her. And not the idealized version of her.

Everyone has traits that make them a great person. Instead of going straight to your negative qualities start focusing on your positive attributes. For myself, I try to how I am a good mom, good cook, and how I love my family. Then once I realize all the wonderful things in my life it easier to stop comparing myself to other women.

Once you start with negative thoughts, it is so hard to end them. I just keep replaying them over and over in my head. So instead, I try my best to quickly stop them and think about something positive in my life.

Remind Yourself, Nobody, Is Perfect

I am not perfect, and neither is she! It is so easy to ignore another woman’s faults. I am not saying to look for them, but you just need to realize they are there.

Change Your Surroundings

Go for a walk, go in the other room, or even just go outside for a little bit. Changing your surroundings can quickly put you in a different frame of mind. Try to focus on helping someone else or just saying a kind word to that person will help you to get those negative thoughts out of your mind.
